Kony 2012 by Invisible Children

7 Mar

In case you haven’t heard of the Kony 2012 capaign yet, watch this video and sign the pledge to encourage Congress to deploy more troops to Uganda to help stop Kony from turning innocent children into soldiers and sex slaves.Help get Kony arrested and set a model of bringing about global justice!

I know that there is a lot of controversy about the fact that only 32% of the money Invisible Children gets goes to “Direct Services and Care,” so for those of you who would like to donate, but oppose Invisible Children, International Justice Mission is a similarly-oriented charity that has programs in Uganda, Cambodia, the Philippines, Thailand, India, Kenya, Rwanda, Zambia, Bolivia, Guatemala, Ecuador and Peru. Although it is not associated with the Kony campaign, it sends 77.5% of the funds it raises to directly fund programs to decrease sex trafficking and it has a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. This is a great charity to donate to if you have issues with Invisible Children foundation, but still want to help contribute to the fight against commercial sexual exploitation of children, forced labor slavery, illegal detention, police brutality and illegal land seizure.
