Two days ago, I received the tremendous honor of having the amazing Hiba, of Cloud of Lace, nominate me for the Versatile Blogger Award. Hiba write one of the most versatile blogs I’ve come across, with posts about beauty, crafts, fashion, cooking, and life in Lebanon. It’s incredible to have a blogger friend on the other side of the world! Her posts amaze me because through her breathtaking photographs and sophisticated language, she shows both the tremendous similarities and the massive difference between life in the Middle East and life in America.
So here are the rules for accepting this award:
- Thank the person who nominated me, and add a link
- Tell 7 things about myself
- Nominate 15 fellow bloggers
So here are some tidbits about me…
1. I was a dancer until I was about 16, and at one point I was dancing over 10 hours per week. Since then, I’ve turned to yoga instead because it allows me to maintain my strength and flexibility, while adding more serenity to my life.
2. One day I hope to become certified as a yoga teacher. I want to do this not because I plan to teach, but rather because I want to be able to enhance my own practice and help the people in my life adapt yoga to meet their personal needs.
3. I prefer Emily Dickinson’s poetry to Shakespeare’s. I think that Emily Dickenson’s unique, passionate analysis of provocative subjects is far more interesting than Shakespeare’s ceaseless arrogance and desire to praise himself in his sonnets and other work.
4. I try my hardest to go to my local farmer’s market every Sunday, unless there is a free Lululemon yoga class that is too good to pass up. I love continuing this family tradition by going and picking out produce for the week’s upcoming meals with my mom and stocking up on fresh berries with my dad. Going to the supermarket cannot compare to the experience of seeing the faces of the farmers who grow your food.
5. If I could live anywhere in the world, I would move to Paris. French art, culture, and food always has held a special place in my heart. I’ve always regretted learning Spanish instead of French in school, because the French language is unsurpassably beautiful.
6. My favorite living artist is Mark Ryden and my favorite artist of all time is Claude Monet.
7. I would always rather walk or take my bike for transportation than drive. Parallel parking scares me.
There are so many incredible bloggers on the web, so here are just 15 of the many that I enjoy reading:
- Turn Towards the Sun

Thank you again so much to Hiba both for inspiring me with your fantastic posts and for believing in my ability to write my own. I so appreciate all of the support that I have received from my friends, my family, and my fellow bloggers!
Until next time:)
